The average 401(k) participant saved between 5% and 7% of their salary pre-tax in their 401(k) plan.

77.7% of workers eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan have chosen to participate.

Company contributions
96% of 401(k) plans surveyed provide some form of company contribution. The most common type of company matching contribution is $.50 on the dollar, up to the first 6% contributed by the employee.
