Percentage of Pay Saved

The average 401(k) participant saved between 5.5% and 7% of their salary pre-tax in their 401(k) plan.

Percentage of People Participating

81.9% of workers eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan have chosen to participate.

Company Contributions

96% of 401(k) plans surveyed provide some form of company contribution. The most common type of company matching contribution is $0.50 on the dollar, up to the first 6% contributed by the employee.
